Technical Manager (Tanks)

Reporting to the Technical Director, the Technical Manager will be responsible for the global technical performance of Seaco’s container fleet in terms of technical advisory, cost management, performance measurement and quality management, with a primary focus on tank containers to meet and exceed company expectation.  To maintain a strong working relationship with the regional operations as well as depots and factories to ensure systematic and efficient execution of technical processes and quality of work, including providing technical support to customers, with a focus in Asia and Middle East.

KEY SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:


  • Minimum 8 year’s experience and related working knowledge
  • Good IT literacy and competency in Microsoft Office applications. SAP knowledge a plus
  • Good communication skills in English and Mandarin, written and spoken
  • Good knowledge of different types of Tank Containers ADR 6.7/6.8
  • Knowledge of ITCO standards
  • Knowledge of IMDG standards
  • Negotiation and basic project management skills
  • Strong analytical skills in operational cost analysis and material costing. Engineering or operations experience is required, preferably in cost management, operations processes,
    and business management

 

Key Tasks and Activities:

  • Establish and implement corporate technical policy on tank and other equipment-related matters to meet industrial, legislative and company standards
  • Conduct internal and external trainings, including training to depots, inspection companies and customers, to ensure effective execution of Seaco operational procedures and close adherence to Seaco corporate policies
  • Provide technical support for all matters relating to tank containers, including technical consultation, regulatory advice, physical container survey and dispute resolution
  • Provide customer support on tank-related matters globally, with a primary focus in Asia and Middle East
  • Review key Maintenance and Repair (M&R) performance in close collaboration with operations team in all regions
  • Conduct depot audit to ensure Seaco’s equipment are repaired and maintained up to Seaco’s required standards
  • Manage Seaco’s repair cost performance by analyzing repair expenses and ensuring accurate repair estimation by depots
  • Work closely with all regional operations teams to ensure Seaco’s tank units and other equipment are conforming to local and international regulatory requirement
  • Review all tank and other equipment modification work, warranty claims and all technical-related aspects when required
  • Manage and maintain good working relationship with vendors and customers in all regions
  • Source, negotiate and develop spare parts supply chain to ensure effective quality and cost management
  • Lead corporate improvement projects related to product and technical policies
  • Travelling to depots, customers and Seaco offices worldwide is required
